In this hands-on professional development workshop attendees will learn how to use CS First (g.co/csfirst), Google’s free introductory computer science curriculum for elementary and middle school students that uses Scratch, a block-based programming language. During the workshop, teachers will learn about the importance of CS for all students and the teacher’s role in creating an environment where all students can learn equitably. You’ll get a chance to learn about the free lesson plans, solution sheets and other educator enrichment resources. At the end of the workshop, you’ll walk away with a plan of action and strategies for starting to teach CS First and a connection to the growing community of CS First teachers. Attendees are highly encouraged to bring their laptops to this hands-on session.
