General Information

When is the Conference?

The 2024 Families Learning Conference will occur Monday, Nov. 18 through Wednesday, Nov. 20, in Louisville, Kentucky.

Where is the Conference being held?

The conference will take place at the Louisville Marriott Downtown in Louisville, Kentucky. The address is 280 W Jefferson St, Louisville, KY 40202.

What is the 2024 Families Learning Conference about?

The Families Learning Conference is for passionate people looking for innovative learning strategies and resources to support families in reaching their academic and economic goals. Attendees will gain practices and ideas to create equitable and relevant family learning experiences; exposure to a national network of family-facing professionals, researchers, policymakers, and funders; and inspiration and renewed energy for their work.

Who attends the Conference?

The Families Learning Conference attracts educators spanning preschool to adult learning, literacy practitioners, staff of community-based organizations and coalitions, librarians, parent leaders, funders, policymakers, researchers, and anyone with a vested interest in improving the lives of families.

Will translation and interpretation services be offered?

NCFL is committed to language justice and will provide interpretation based on the needs of our attendees. During the registration process, registrants have the opportunity to indicate their language preference.

Does the Conference accommodate persons with disabilities?

NCFL is committed to serving all attendees who have disabilities and adheres to the guidelines set forth in the Americans with Disabilities Act. During the registration process, registrants have the opportunity to indicate their needs. Attendees requiring accommodations are encouraged to contact conference@familieslearning.org to ensure their needs are met.

Are there opportunities for sponsors and exhibitors at the Conference?

Does the Conference give school credits or Continuing Education Units (CEUs)?

At this time, the Families Learning Conference does not provide CEUs. Attendees will receive a certificate of attendance in the printed program.


Registration Information

What is the Conference registration fee?

The 2024 Families Learning Conference has two pricing tiers, early bird and regular.

Early bird rate (February 26 through June 30, 2024):
$595.00 per three-day registration
$295.00 per one-day registration

Regular rate (July 1 through November 20, 2024):
$695.00 per three-day registration
$350.00 per one-day registration

What is included in the three-day registration fee?

The three-day registration fee includes admission into the conference events and sessions from Monday, Nov. 18 to Wednesday, Nov. 20. 

What is included in the one-day registration fee?

The one-day registration fee includes admission into the conference sessions on the day of your choosing (either Monday or Tuesday), as well as any events hosted on that day.

How do discount codes work?

Discount codes apply to one three-day registration only until 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on the date specified. No more than one discount code can be used per order.

Can I register online?

When registration opens, it will be available online at conference.familieslearning.org/register.

Can I pay with a purchase order or check?

To pay by purchase order or check, register online at conference.familieslearning.org/register and reach out to us to receive our w9 form by emailing conference@familieslearning.org.

If registering online and paying by check, mail check to National Center for Families Learning, ATTN: Conference, 325 W. Main St., Ste. 300, Louisville, KY 40202. Make sure to include the name of registrant and confirmation number.

If registering online and paying by purchase order, a copy of the actual signed purchase order must be submitted to conference@familieslearning.org or mailed to National Center for Families Learning, ATTN: Conference, 325 W. Main St., Ste. 300, Louisville, KY 40202. Make sure to include the name of registrant and confirmation number.

Registrations will not be approved until the signed purchase order or check is submitted. Purchase orders and checks submitted without registration forms or registrant’s name and confirmation number cannot be processed.

What is NCFL’s cancellation policy?

A full refund minus a $75 administration fee will be issued if NCFL receives cancellation from the registrant in writing by Monday, September 23, 2024. A full refund minus a $125 administration fee will be issued if NCFL receives cancellation from the registrant in writing between Tuesday, September 24, 2024 and Monday, October 21, 2024. NCFL will not be held responsible for, nor issue refunds based on, illness, travel or weather-related interruptions, or other independent issues requiring cancellation after October 21, 2024. Registration substitutions are permitted.

Hotel Information

Where is the Conference being held?

The conference will take place at the Louisville Marriott Downtown in Louisville, Kentucky. The address is 280 W Jefferson St, Louisville, KY 40202.

Is there a room block for attendees?

Yes. The room block rate for the 2024 Families Learning Conference expires on Friday, Oct. 25, 2024. To receive our room block rate of $192 per night plus 17.81% tax, attendees must use our custom reservation link found at conference.familieslearning.org/hotel. This rate also applies 2 days before and 2 days after the regular Conference days, based on hotel availability.

How can I make my hotel reservation?

What is the parking rate at the Louisville Marriott Downtown?

Self-parking for overnight guests: $34
Daily parking: $40
Valet parking: $45


Speakers and Session Information

What is the process to become a concurrent session presenter?

NCFL opens a call for presentation proposals several months before the event. The 2024 Call for Proposals opens February 26, 2024 and closes April 15, 2024. Visit Call for Proposals to view submission information.

What is the format for each day of Conference?

The schedule is being built and will be shared in the spring of 2024.

Will presentations be offered virtually?

No, the 2024 Families Learning Conference will be held in-person and virtual presentations will not be offered this year.

What are the content strands?

The Conference’s strands are Family Literacy, Family Engagement, Family Leadership, Policy & Advocacy, and Research & Evaluation.

How long are sessions?

The Conference’s session lengths are currently being finalized.

When will the descriptions of all sessions be on this website?

The finalized schedule will be posted at conference.familieslearning.org/schedule in the summer of 2024. Updates regarding speakers and special sessions will be posted as they are confirmed.


Mobile App Information

How do I access the conference mobile app?

Registrants will be emailed instructions for accessing the mobile app before the event start. Once you are registered, ensure you receive this notification by adding @cvent-planner.com to your email provider’s list of safe senders.

When will I be able to access the mobile app?

In November 2024, registrants will receive email notification when access is available. Once you are registered, ensure you receive this notification by adding @cvent-planner.com to your email provider’s list of safe senders.

I can’t download the app. Is there another way to access the information?

In addition to a printed program with event information, attendees will be able to access conference content on the latest versions of Firefox, Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Safari. For best results, use Chrome. Not sure which browser you’re using? Find out by clicking here. Using an outdated browser can leave you more vulnerable to security risks, slow down performance, and cause some websites to behave incorrectly. Download the latest version for Firefox, Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Safari.

I did not receive an email verification code. What do I do?

First, please confirm that you are registered for the event. You should have received a confirmation email. Check your spam/junk folder for the verification code.  Make sure you logged in with your registered email address. Another option is to click on the “didn’t receive code link.” If all else fails, email conference@familieslearning.org.

Why did I get logged out?

For privacy reasons, your login only stays valid for 72 hours. You will also be logged out after 24 hours of inactivity. You will need to request a new verification code once your login expires.

I am getting a “Website 404: Page not found” error message. Why?

The platform runs best on Google Chrome. If you are using a different web browser we recommend you switch.  If you’re still experiencing the error, refresh your webpage, clear your cache and cookies, or try going into incognito mode.
