Session Format Information

Questions Answered for the Live Q&A

How will I facilitate live Q&A?

You will be invited to join Pearson Technology’s recording studio called “StreamYard.”

When will I get the link to join?

No later than 24 hours before your presentation will air, Pearson Technology will email presenters with the link to join StreamYard.

How will I get the link?

The link will go to the email you provided NCFL. We have also shared the emails for known co-presenters with Pearson.

What if I want someone else to participate or my co-presenter didn’t get the link?

Presenters can forward the link to anyone you want to participate.

When should presenters join the studio?

Join early, when your presentation starts.

How will the transition work between the presentation recording and the live Q&A?

A Pearson technician will switch from the recording to the live studio. Audience members will see you immediately after the airing of recording.

How will I interact with the audience?

The audience can submit questions using the Slido widget that appears on the page. An NCFL staff person will also join the recording studio to help share questions with the presenter. Audience members will not have their camera or microphone enabled.

What if I need help from the technician?

Presenters can communicate with the tech using Streamyard’s chat on right side of the screen.

When will I have access to the virtual platform as an attendee?

We will email registrants the afternoon of Oct. 22 with the access information and again over the weekend.

Session Slideshow Template

For your convenience, we’ve developed a PowerPoint template for presenters. While use of this template is optional, it promotes a cohesive look throughout the Families Learning Conference.

Session materials and evaluations

NCFL strongly encourages presenters to upload their session materials for inclusion in the Conference mobile app. An email will be sent to the Lead Presenter with upload instructions in late Summer 2021, with an upload deadline of October 11.

Presenters are fully responsible for copying and furnishing all printed and/or electronic handouts for their sessions. If you wish to receive feedback regarding your presentation, please bring and distribute your own evaluations at your session.

The National Center for Families Learning (NCFL) has decided to make the 2021 Families Learning Conference an all-virtual event to keep us all safe. The conference dates remain October 25-27, 2021, and registrants will have on-demand access to all recorded content for 90 days after the event.

Considering the resurgence of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in Texas and around the country, and after surveying our constituents, we determined the safest course of action would be to move from an in-person convening to a virtual format.
