Words are used for talking, reading and writing, but many Adult Basic Education (ABE) and English for Speakers of Other Language (ESOL) students are not aware of the complexity of the letter sounds that make up a spoken word. This presentation is designed to help the educator use an effective introductory approach for teaching ABE and ESOL by using a structured and alternative method versus phonics.
