Lynn Hernandez has been an adult education teacher and coordinator in the Family and Child Education (FACE) program at Little Wound School for over twenty years. Lynn will share her expertise and experience on how to grow and maintain a flourishing family literacy program. In this session, participants will learn key elements to implementing a successful program, such as: (1) how to build a strong educational and support team, (2) how to help students learn about themselves and their skills, interests, and needs, (3) how to cultivate students’ abilities and knowledge so they grow as leaders in their communities and families (4) how to develop a network of community organizations that can provide resources and expertise to the program, and (5) how to work with schools, local boards, and principals in collaborative ways. There will be opportunities for participants to learn from and share with one another, so everyone walks away with new ideas and strategies to support families.
