Dr. Pamela Truelove-Walker

Director, Early Childhood Education Strategy
TMW Center for Early Learning + Public Health at The University of Chicago

Dr. Pamela Truelove-Walker serves as the Director of Early Childhood Education Strategy at the TMW Center for Early Learning + Public Health at the University of Chicago. In this role, she oversees the testing, development, and implementation of the TMW Center’s suite of tools and resources for the early childhood education practitioner. She works closely with educators, families, and community partners to put research-based tools into practice and support those who care for and teach young children.

Before joining the TMW Center, Dr. Truelove-Walker held a leadership role in state government as Senior Director of Early Learning and Education, where she provided strategic guidance in the coordination and alignment of programs, services, and initiatives serving children from birth through age eight. Her career spans more than 25 years of experience leading and supporting early childhood systems, including university-based lab schools, Head Start and Early Head Start, faith-based preschools, state-funded pre-K, and quality improvement systems. No matter the setting, her focus has always been on strengthening the adults who shape children’s earliest learning experiences.

“Beyond my enthusiasm for this work, I find fulfillment in knowing that even small changes can create lasting impact in the lives of our nation’s youngest learners.”
