Barriers to effective family engagement can be intentionally or unintentionally created by institutions, state or federal regulations, procedures and/or policies. Barriers vary from school-level policies that schedule family events during parents’ working hours to macro level policies around educational funding streams. In this session, we will guide participants to identify policy barriers in family engagement and to draft policy recommendations about a barrier of their choice.
