Chris Burba

Director, Family Engagement and Family Leadership
National Center for Families Learning

Chris brings nearly three decades of experience in education to his role as NCFL’s Director of Family Engagement and Family Leadership. He partners with teams and communities across the country to strengthen school-family partnerships, elevate family voice, and expand opportunities for multigenerational learning and leadership.

Before joining NCFL, Chris proudly served as a classroom teacher, a middle school principal at two very diverse communities, and district leader, where he focused on achieving meaningful results for students and families through collaboration, communication, and innovation. At the district level, he led the Title I, II, and IV federal programs, creating the conditions for meaningful family engagement across more than 155 schools. He also implemented districtwide summer learning programs serving as many as 10,000 students, incorporating family engagement strategies to ensure families were active partners in their children’s learning throughout the summer. His leadership is grounded in a belief that strong relationships and shared accountability are the foundation for lasting impact.
