Jessie Coffey, M.S., RD

Director, Whole Child Program
Nebraska Department of Education

Jessie Coffey is formally trained as a registered dietitian but found her professional calling to support health and well-being in the K-12 setting. She has worked in public education for over 20 years, including 13 years at a local school district level, where she worked across the district with administrators, school nurses, school counselors, educators, after-school program staff, and families in a variety of capacities. Through her job at the NDE, Jessie works as the Family and Community Engagement lead to promote the voices of families and harness the collaboration of community partners at both the state and regional levels. Rooted in research and best practices, Jessie works to utilize sustainable practices that promote equity, fill local needs, and honor the rich cultural perspectives of individuals and organizations across Nebraska, and is passionate about the “heart” work that is at the center of education.

During her time off, she enjoys taking walks with her two dogs, enjoying the lake, water, and sun with her three boys and husband, and enjoying time outdoors as much as possible.
