Two decades ago, Lee Drescher developed Treasure Time Productions, a 501c3. Using the arts, she works with children to perform short plays about picture books, which also teach reading. STEAM-PLUS

Drescher has taken her programs on the road to libraries throughout the state of Massachusetss and beyond. For several years she received a grant to present plays and story hours in South Boston at Head Start, the Boston Public Library, various schools and daycares, and at the Tierny Learning Center. For seven years she also produced plays at The KCCoombs School in Mashpee, MA.

Currently Drescher has been presenting  programs in New Bedford, MA and  expanding to Fall River. She has been involved in formulating a program for the Basics in the Boston/South Coast region, and recently attended a breakfast in New Bedford for launching a podcast. She is also proposing a drama course at Bridgewater State College for teaching  students how to duplicate her method of promoting literacy by producing short musical plays about quality children’s picture books.

Lee Drescher has a collection of original songs which are included in her plays, because music is an important art to convey literacy. In addition, she has a YouTube page which was started during the Covid epidemic, with 92 stories read aloud, and  is aming for 100. It is entitled Mrs. Treasure’s Story Time.

Drescher is also a choir member at her local church and an active member in the community where she lives, Falmouth, MA. Her term just ended on the Historic Commission, and now she is championing other important causes. She believes that all young children should be given an equal opportunity for a good start in life, because “In every classroom I enter in a disadvantaged community, all children need to be encouraged to be the best they can be, and there are always some who are truly outstanding. With proper nurturing and mentorship along the way, they will have a greater chance for future success.”
