McKenna is from Grand Rapids, Michigan and joined the Literacy Center of West Michigan in September 2021. She started as an instructor in the Family Literacy Program teaching in person and online classes as well as one Customized Workplace English class. In February 2024, she excitedly took on the role of coordinator for FLP. Working as an instructor, mentor coach and coordinator, she brings an educational perspective to the FLP team influencing the curriculum for learners to receive high quality, learner-centered instruction. She graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2019 with a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education, Spanish and Health Education. Her goal is to bring more health literacy classes to clinics in the community and form impactful relationships with learners so they know her as a resource in the community of Grand Rapids.
