Hope as a Family Learning Strategy: Building Communities Where Youth and Families Can Become the Heroes of Their Own Stories

November 09, 2026
9:00AM - 11:00AM

In this interactive 2-hour seminar, Hasan Davis introduces the HOPE framework—Humanity, Optimism, Perspective, and Empathy—as a practical tool for strengthening family engagement, family leadership, and Family Learning Communities. Participants will explore how hope can move beyond inspiration and become a shared practice across families, schools, libraries, community organizations, and youth-serving systems. Through storytelling, reflection, small-group dialogue, and hands-on tools such as the Bio Poem, HOPE mapping, and Person-Role-System reflection, attendees will examine how to build relationships that center dignity, strengthen family voice, and create believable futures for children and caregivers. Participants will leave with practical strategies and adaptable activities they can use in family learning, family literacy, and community partnership settings.
