While the core structure of a family literacy program traditionally includes four key components—parent time, PACT Time®, adult education, and child education—there appears to be an essential, often unspoken fifth element. A significant portion of the work involves addressing the basic needs of families and removing the barriers that hinder their progress toward success. This session will explore strategies for removing barriers to family literacy and highlight how various communities have successfully addressed these challenges.
