Participant, Activate! National Early Childhood Advocacy Network
Ra’Chelle Dennis, a single mom of 2 boys, joined Martha’s Table Early Childhood Education Center program in Washington, DC in August 2019. Ra’Chelle was eager to find help for her son Noah who showed early signs of developmental delays and autism spectrum disorder. She became very active at Martha’s Table by attending and participating in a variety of workshops for parents. Additionally, Ra’Chelle worked with a life coach, became the secretary on the Parent Policy Council, joined the Community Advisory Council, and was invited to sit as an advisor on the board. In 2021, she applied at Martha’s Table and was offered a position as a Family Engagement Specialist. In this role, Ra’Challe assists 148 new and single mothers in DC’s first cash assistance program. Ra’Chelle enjoys working in her community and teaching mothers that having a village to assist with your children is a great tool. She is also proud of both her sons, Montaz and Noah. Montaz is an honor student who will be graduating from Alabama State University in 2024, and Noah attends a tier one elementary school that helps students with Special Education needs.
